Run your team without a league

You don’t need to be part of a League Sage organization to run your team here. Create a free account, set up an independent team, and you get the full game-day toolkit: roster, RSVPs, auto-generated lineups, live scorekeeping, stats, and practices.

Go to /signup, enter your email, and click the link we send you (it’s valid for 7 days). The link creates your account and drops you straight onto the Create Team page. If you already have an account, the page will tell you honestly and point you to sign in instead.

Already signed in? Create Team is in the user menu (top right) on desktop and in the mobile menu’s footer.

Pick a team name, your sport (softball, kickball, cornhole, pickleball, volleyball, soccer, or flag football), and your own roster gender (used by co-ed lineup rules — changeable later). You become the team’s coach, which unlocks the Roster and Config pages. You can run up to three independent teams at once; archiving one frees a slot.

Add players by name on the Roster page — no email addresses required. When you want players to join themselves, share your team join link (Config → Team card): anyone with the link lands on your roster as a player. See Team settings & join links.

Schedule games, practices, and team events

Section titled “Schedule games, practices, and team events”

Independent teams own their whole schedule — tap + Add Event on the Games page and pick a Game, Practice, Social, or Scrimmage (see Schedule practices, socials & scrimmages); you can delete any of them too. Since your field isn’t in a league’s field list, just type a location name and address when you create the event; weather forecasts and calendar feeds work off the address you enter.

Type the opponent’s name when creating or editing a game. Independent teams use a name field and do not browse other teams. The name appears on your schedule, game page, and stats. Scorekeeping works normally; you track both sides’ runs from your side of the book. Since there’s no other coach to confirm it, your reported score is final the moment you submit it.

Taking a break? Archive the team from Config -> Danger Zone: it disappears from everyone’s active views and frees one of your three team slots, but every game, stat, and roster spot is kept — bring it back any time with Unarchive on your Past Teams page (as long as you’re under the three-team limit).

Done with it for good? Coaches can delete an independent team from the same Danger Zone — type the team name to confirm. This permanently removes the team, its games, stats, and roster for everyone on it; opponents who played you keep their game history (your team just shows as a typed-in name).

A few things only make sense inside an organization, so they’re unavailable:

  • Email invites and reminder emails — the join link is your onboarding tool instead. (Password resets and sign-in links still work normally.)
  • Seasons, league schedules, and standings — those belong to a league.
  • AI features are capped at a daily per-team allowance; it resets at midnight Eastern.

If your league later joins League Sage, your team can be attached to it — everything you’ve built (roster, stats, history) carries over as-is.
